This product is designed to replace the entire BMW E46 M3 air intake system. (S54 engine)
It is a copy of the original CSL airbox and is a very popular modification with M3 enthusiasts. Most people purchase this airbox literally for the intake noise alone, it is truly fantastic. On top of the noise, throttle response, engine power and overall driveability of the car is vastly improved.
We also manufacture a specific version of this airbox to suit the E36 chassis where the S54 engine is installed. The main plenum chamber is the same, but the intermediate section and snorkel are modified to clear the strut top and the back of the headlight
This is a three-piece item incorporating the same diameter intake as the original CSL unit but without the large plastic butterfly assembly that the CSL had for German emission purposes. This item is supplied complete with intake snorkel and K&N air filter.
Installation is pretty straight forward and many customers install it themselves however you will require a few additional items which can be purchased from your local BMW dealer. Your car will also require “Alpha N” mapping or clone CSL ecu modifications, there are many reputable companies who can carry out this service for you. A quick Google should soon point you in the right direction.

Please note that cars manufactured after September 2004 may also require the earlier type of intake rubbers. These are the rubbers which fit between the throttle body and the carbon airbox. If you do require the earlier ones, you will need to purchase: 11612466477 x6 and 11617830306 x6 from your BMW dealer. If you are unsure, please contact us with your chassis number and we can check for you.
Our airbox doesn’t require the use of the underside original support brackets. If fastened to the throttle body properly it is very secure.
In 2017 we changed the manufacturing process of our CSL airbox. This included new, CAD designed and CNC machined moulds which we then hand lay the carbon airboxes from. Before 2017 we manufactured a similar product but it was no where near the quality of the current model. Many people still refer to the “Version 1” which we sold many of, but they cannot be compared. The “new” Version 2 design is far superior including CNC machined, aluminium snorkel flanges, aluminium breather ports and carbon fibre intake trumpets.
We can supply the airbox without breather, idle valve and oil return to sump ports if required (suitable for race cars only)
We can also manufacture it with the snorkel and intermediate section as one piece, this removes the CNC aluminium flanges and saves £120! Functionality and fitment is the same, it just doesn’t have the option of adding the OEM CSL plastic butterfly (not that many people want this anyway)
